Take Small Steps
Monde Ami

Takoda was delighted when we asked him to be the spokesturtle (and Mascot) for MondeAmi. He's normally very shy, but he's very happy to talk about ways to save the world--one small step at a time.

"Too many people think that they can't do anything just because the problem is so big. I've learned from my long years that every little step we take brings us closer to our goal. If enough people take enough of these little steps, together we can make some astounding progress!"

Takoda's natural shyness makes his enthusiasm all the more poignant as he takes up the cause. He's especially happy because the MondeAmi reusable shopping bags take care of some of the biggest problems regarding plastic bags. Some of his first recommendations are listed here:
  • Reduce the Use
Using less plastic bags in the first place prevents them from getting into our ecosystem. The less we use, the less we need to worry about trying to recycle, finding in our landfill, or--worse--finding strewn about the world, endangering unwary animals.

  • Reuse what you Can
By reusing bags that you already have, you can make the most of the existing resouces. Many plastic bags can be reused a number of times before they wear out or become unusable.

  • Think about True Cost
Each plastic bag cost 17 cents to recycle. If you can replace 12 plastic bags with one reusable bag (which is also recyclable!) then you have saved over $2.00 in recycling costs. One MondeAmi reusable shopping bag can carry the equivalent of 3 typical plastic grocery bags and can be used hundreds of times. The true cost of using a plastic bag is staggering compared to the MondeAmi reusable shopping bag
